Competitions
Competitions
Print competitions are held three times during the year and digital competitions twice. An annual competition of the year's ribbon winners is conducted in June. Check the Calendar page for dates and subjects. The assigned subject matter differs with each competition and is chosen to challenge and foster members’ photographic skills and creativity. The club engages well-known talented local photographers as competition judges. Their insights and comments on each entry are always inspirational and educational. Awards are presented and award winning photographs are eligible for public exhibits sponsored by the club and local businesses and organizations.
In order to provide fair competition for all members, the Cape Fear Camera Club offers two levels:
Level B - Novice to Intermediate - A member shall be considered a Level B photographer who meets the following requirements:
1.The member is new to photography.
2.The member has limited practical or technical experience, or
3.The member demonstrates abilities beyond the novice, but not as extensive as a Level A member.
Level A - Advanced - A member shall be considered advanced if he/she meets the following requirements:
1.The member is a serious amateur or professional photographer who has demonstrated creativity and technical skills on a high level.
2.The member has self-promoted themselves to the A level through accumulation of points.

Throughout the course of the year (September - June) the points awarded by each Competition Judge will be tabulated for each member entering a competition.
