Special Events
The next Member Exhibit will take place in April.
During the month of December the club’s newest exhibit, based largely on a recent print competition with the subject “Life in Action”, was shown at the New Hanover county main Library in downtown Wilmington.
In addition to monthly meetings and competitions, the club periodically holds photography outings, public exhibits, and special learning sessions which together make the club a focal point of photographic interest and education in the Cape Fear region. Check the Calendar pages for upcoming events and check this page as well as the Newsletter page for more detailed information.
On January 9th the club held its print competition with the an “Open” category and assigned category, “Abstract”. Over 75 entries were submitted. Ribbon winning entries will be posted on the Gallery page shortly. The competition was judged by Carlton Wilkinson, UNCW assistant professor and gallery director, College of Arts and Science. Mr. Wilkinson’s experience as an artist and photographer coupled with the communication skills of an educator enabled him to provide thoughtful and insightful critiques of the submissions. His comments were well received and appreciated. On January 27 he will give a lecture on the depiction of the human form in art at the Cameron Art Museum. Mark your calendars.
