| 12/13/2010 | 7:00 | Peter Stein, ASC, presented a beautifully-choreographed audio-visual about his father, German-American photographer, Fred Stein. Thiis was an outstanding event. Peter had more than 40 of Fred Stein's prints for us to see after the presentation. The presentation, itself, brought us through the life of Fred Stein from his youth in Dresden Germany, his flee from the Nazi's to Paris in the 1930's, his escape from an internment camp in France, again to avoid capture and certain death by the Nazi's moving his wife, young daughter, and himself to America in the 1940's.
Fred Stein's work started with a 35mm Leica, but later he moved to a Rolleiflex. All of his work is in black and white. We hope that the world will awaken to the history and the marvelous work of Fred Stein in the near future. Please visit FredStein.com. |

| 10/23/2010 | 11:00 - 2:00 | Silver Coast Winery, Ocean Isle North Carolina. We were given a guided tour of the Winery at 11am on the 23rd where we photographed the wine making process and the barrel room where wine is stored and aged. There are 40 acres of landscaped grounds including vineyards to photograph as well. There is also an art gallery and gift shop to visit. |

7:00 PM | Our first workshop of the year was for new members and novice photographers. Of course, all members were invited to attend. We provided an overview of the various modes available on most cameras, and help participants move away from the AUTO option. In an effort to improve how we see the image we are about to take, we also discuss various compositional techniques. Questions about sizing pictures for digital compositions will answered. |
